Mark Muhr, the owner of Leaning Tree Woodworks, near Tyler, in Lindale TX, has been working with wood since he designed and built a doghouse when he was six.  He later moved on to tree houses and toy guns, and his parents found that no piece of scrap wood was safe.  As he grew older, school and sports took him away from woodworking, but after stints of working as an environmental chemist, teacher and coach, and even as a basketball play by play announcer, Mark returned to his first love of woodworking.  After his first year as a professional woodworker, he realized his need to gain skills, so he did something that is rare in this day and age and apprenticed himself out for a year to a master woodworker.  At the end of that year, he graduated from the apprenticeship program having achieved the title of Master Furniture Maker.  Having graduated, Mark went on to work in a high end custom furniture shop for another five years before going out on his own and starting Leaning Tree Woodworks.
